The United States will no longer act as a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. This was announced at a briefing by US State Department representative Tammy Bruce. According to her, it is now time for direct dialogue between the parties involved in the conflict.
«The methods of how we contribute will change, — we will not be mediators. <...> We are certainly still committed [to a peaceful resolution] and will help and do everything we can. But we are not going to fly around the world at the first call to mediate meetings, now it is up to the two sides, and now is the time for them to present and develop concrete ideas on how this conflict will end. It will depend on them», — stated State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Earlier, Vice President J.D. Vance in an interview with Fox News stated that, in his opinion, the hostilities in Ukraine will not end soon. He emphasized that only Moscow and Kyiv can decide on a ceasefire, «not even President Trump can do this for them». The Trump administration faces the question of how to help Russia and Ukraine «find a compromise to end the conflict», Vance reported.
«I think the Ukrainians, yes, of course, they are angry about the invasion, but is it worth continuing to lose thousands and thousands of soldiers for a few miles here or there? I hope both sides will come to their senses», — said the US Vice President.
