Last year, «Yandex» satisfied 57,434 requests from authorities for user data disclosure, a record figure. This is indicated by the company's transparency report, which «Verstka»* drew attention to.
In total, in 2024, «Yandex» received 77,979 requests for data disclosure from Russian government agencies. This is 13% more than the previous year, when the company received 68,969 requests. At the same time, the percentage of satisfied requests decreased — from 79% to 74%.
In 2024, Russian authorities were most interested in user data from the «RideTech» category, which includes taxi, delivery, scooter, and car-sharing services. «Yandex» received 50,175 such requests and satisfied 37,399 of them (75%).
The second highest number of requests was in the «FoodTech» category, which includes food-related services: 14,181 requests, 11,530 (81%) of which were satisfied. In third place — user email data: 6,043 requests, 3,664 (61%) satisfied.
Last year, «Yandex» actively cooperated with authorities under the «right to be forgotten» law, which requires search engines to remove links to information that the applicant considers illegal, inaccurate, or irrelevant. The search engine received a record 25,972 requests to remove links, 18,042 requests (69%) were satisfied. For the first time, the number of satisfied requests exceeded the number of refusals.
