The Kursk Regional Court sentenced a resident of the Glushkovsky district, Alexander Abramov, to 24 years in prison on charges of 'treason' and possession of explosives, the court's press service reported.

According to the verdict, the man must spend the first five years in prison, and the remaining term in a high-security colony. In addition to the main sentence, he was fined 450 thousand rubles.

The prosecution requested 25 years of imprisonment and a fine of 500 thousand rubles.

According to law enforcement, Abramov passed information to Ukrainians about the movement and gathering places of Russian military in the Kursk border area. When detained, he attempted to detonate a grenade he kept at home. As a result, he was also charged with 'attempting on the life of a law enforcement officer and military personnel to obstruct their lawful activities'.

Abramov admitted guilt only in the possession of explosives.
