2025.09.19

He was declared wanted as one of the main suspects in the murder of an entrepreneur and his wife

The 'United Russia' branch in the Magadan region reported the election of the head of the 'SVO' veterans organization 'Kolyma', a veteran of combat operations in Chechnya and Ukraine, and GRU officer Andrey Aksanov to the regional Duma. 'Agency'* found data on Aksanov in law enforcement summaries in the early 2000s: he was a suspect in a high-profile case of the murder of an entrepreneur and his wife.

50-year-old Andrey Aksanov was born and raised in the Magadan region. According to him, in the 1990s he graduated from flight school, completed military service in the Airborne Forces, and then signed a contract. He participated in both wars in Chechnya, and in 2000 he was injured. Since at least 2018, Aksanov worked as a mechanic-technician at the 'Chukotka Mining and Geological Company'. He participated in the war in Ukraine, and according to him, in May 2022 he was injured during battles as part of a reconnaissance group. In November 2023, he headed the 'SVO' veterans organization 'Kolyma'.

In the early 2000s, after being wounded in Chechnya, Aksanov was involved in a high-profile criminal case in Nakhodka (Primorsky Krai), according to police summaries that were leaked. In January 2002, a local businessman and his wife were shot dead at their home in Nakhodka. According to the leaked police summary, Aksanov and his comrade from Chechnya, who fled with weapons in a Toyota Supra, were declared wanted as suspects. It is unclear from the leaks and open sources how the investigation of this case ended.

This weekend, almost a thousand participants in the war in Ukraine became deputies at various levels, which is almost three times the figures from last year.
