Poland reported a 'security zone violation' of a drilling platform by Russian fighter jets

Estonia invokes Article 4 of the NATO charter due to a 'security threat', stated Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal. According to him, the country's government has sought urgent consultations with NATO members due to the violation of airspace by Russian MiG-31 fighter jets.

'The contracting parties will consult with each other if, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence, or security of one of the contracting parties is threatened,' explained the official.

As previously reported by Politico, citing informed sources, NATO airspace was violated by MiG-31 aircraft capable of carrying the Russian hypersonic missile 'Kinzhal'. During the incident, they first flew towards the capital Tallinn and then circled for about 12 minutes until Italian F-35s stationed in the region were scrambled for interception.

Meanwhile, the Polish border service stated that Russian fighter jets flew at low altitude over the Petrobaltic drilling platform. 'The platform's security zone was violated. The Polish armed forces and other services were notified about this,' reported the country's border service.
