On the evening of September 28, the CHP in Belgorod came under attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack on the energy infrastructure was confirmed by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov in his Telegram, later he clarified that at least two people were injured.
«There are significant disruptions in the power supply. We are currently dealing with the consequences and will take maximum measures to connect everything where there is the possibility and necessity to reserve generation, and where possible, reconnect to meet the needs of the population and our enterprises. I have now called our divisions in Vodokanal, our medical services—all have switched to backup power sources», — wrote Gladkov.
The «Ash of Belgorod» building writes that due to the missile attack on the CHP, the administrative center of the region partially lost power, including on the streets. Power outages were also recorded in Stary Oskol, Gubkin, Shebekino.
According to the authorities, the power outage affected water supply facilities in the northeastern part of Stary Oskol and several residential areas of the Belgorod district. Gladkov promised detailed information on the timing of power restoration after 21:00
Meanwhile, «Ash of Belgorod» published a message from «Rosseti», stating that the emergency power outage is related to «unfavorable weather conditions».
In turn, «Belgorodenergo» reported that the power outage is «due to a technological violation caused by external impact on power lines». «In several areas of the region, as well as in Belgorod, there are disruptions in power supply. Work is underway to switch facilities to backup schemes. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power supply as quickly as possible», — company representatives stated.
