38-year-old Maxim Kruglov is accused of spreading «fakes» about the army motivated by hatred, reported the Investigative Committee. He will be brought in for questioning in the near future.
According to the investigation, in April 2022, Kruglov published a post on his Telegram channel, which «under the guise of reliable messages» contained «deliberately false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine».
From 2019 to 2024, Kruglov was a deputy of the Moscow City Duma. Since 2023, he has held the position of deputy chairman of the «Yabloko» party. This summer, the politician attempted to organize pickets against the installation of a bas-relief of Joseph Stalin at the «Taganskaya» metro station in Moscow, and also tried to get an answer from the authorities as to why street protests are still banned under the pretext of «coronavirus».
