Parliamentary elections were held in the Czech Republic. Based on the count of 99.8% of the votes, the right-wing populist party of former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš 'Action of Dissatisfied Citizens' (ANO) won, receiving 34.6% of the votes. The ruling party 'Together' ('Spolu') of the current Prime Minister Petr Fiala lost the majority, gaining only 23.3%.

Andrej Babiš has already stated that he will strive to form a coalition with SPD and 'Motorists', as a majority of at least 101 mandates out of 200 is necessary for decision-making and forming a government.

Babiš previously held the position of Prime Minister in the center-left government from 2017 to 2021. Since then, his views have sharply shifted to the right, he has aligned with Donald Trump and Viktor Orban, and joined the far-right faction of the European Parliament Patriots for Europe.

As Reuters writes, during the election campaign, Babiš, in addition to unsubstantiated statements about raising salaries and lowering taxes, promised to end the 'Czech Initiative' for purchasing shells for Ukraine in various countries around the world.
