This evening, the US president called Vladimir Putin. Trump described the conversation as "very productive," mentioned that Putin congratulated him on achieving peace in the Middle East and thanked the First Lady for her work with children.
"At the end of the conversation, we agreed that a meeting of our senior advisors will take place next week. The first meetings on the part of the United States will be conducted under the leadership of Secretary of State Marco Rubio along with other individuals who will be appointed later. The meeting location is yet to be determined. Then President Putin and I will meet at the agreed location, Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can put an end to this 'inglorious' war between Russia and Ukraine," Trump wrote on his social network Truth.
Trump reminded that tomorrow he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and they will discuss the conversation with Putin and much more.
"I believe that today's phone conversation brought great progress," concluded the US president.
